Venues in South Africa and Pitch Conditions

Newlands, Cape Town

Established in 1888, Newlands offers the bowlers a bouncy wicket and assist spinners to a major extent. The picturesque stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000, is in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain.

Newlands will host three matches across all formats during the lengthy India-South Africa series. However, the pitch might not be up to the expectations as the port city is hit by the worst draught recently. According to a report, people have been asked not to use more than 87 litres of water each per day.

SuperSport Park, Centurion

SuperSport Park, formerly known as Centurion Park, is located in Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa. The stadium has a spectator capacity of 22,000 and well connected with the road from the West Avenue squatter camp.

During the India-South Africa series, the SuperSport Park will host a Test, two ODIs and a T20I. The wicket here is one of the quickest pitches in South Africa. The batsmen always get an advantage on this pitch, with the ball generally coming onto the bat. Spinners have struggled to get wickets on this pitch.

New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

New Wanderers Stadium a.k.a. The Bidvest Wanderers Stadium is situated in Illovo, Johannesburg, South Africa and is known for its intimidating atmosphere for the visiting teams. With a capacity of 34,000, New Wanderers Stadium has been a hub of Johannesburg's sporting aspirants for more than 74 years.

The stadium will host three matches across all formats during India tour of South Africa. Having hosted 40 international matches, the turf has seen team batting second winning the match on 23 occasions.

Kingsmead, Durban

Kingsmead, which is famously known for hosting Boxing Day Test in South Africa, is a cricket stadium located in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The sitting capacity of the stadium is 25,000, however, the grass terracing contributes into the viewing area.

The stadium is slated to host the opening match of the six-match ODI series between India and South Africa. The match will start at 16:30 IST with toss scheduled for 16:00 IST.

St George's Park, Port Elizabeth

The St George's Park Cricket Ground a.k.a. St George's Park is the cricket stadium that witnessed South Africa beat India by six wickets in its first ODI in December 1992.

Situated within the sight of the ocean, the attractive stadium will host the fifth ODI between India and South Africa. For the pitch here, many cricket pundits have said it favours the spin bowlers and is a nightmare for fast bowlers.
