Rishabh Pant receives the Test cap by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli

The Indian cricket team has handed youngster Rishabh Pant his cap as he makes his debut for India in Test cricket in the 3rd Test at Nottingham against England. He now becomes the 291st player to be handed a cap as the explosive batsman will be tested at a challenging time as the Virat Kohli led team face hosts England in a must-win game at Trent Bridge as they trail the five-match series 0-2. Before Pant, it was seamer Jasprit Bumrah who was given his cap earlier on this year in January when India toured South Africa. The Proteas won the three-match series 2-1, but Bumrah's capabilities as a Test player impressed many.

Pant replaces Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI for the third Test as the latter has failed to deliver when needed the most and has been quite inefficient with the bat in the last two matches at Birmingham and Lord's.

It was during training when it became quite obvious as it was the 20-year old who was at the nets with his pads on and later on seen with the gloves. Karthik was no where in sight as India geared up for the penultimate clash at Trent Bridge.
