Siraj made his ODI debut for India in the 2nd ODI against Australia in Adelaide

It could have been the happiest of days for youngster Mohammed Siraj on making his ODI debut for India, and that too against Australia in Australia, but he created an unwanted record which would quite haunt him for a while till he starts raking in wickets.

Siraj had the second-most expensive figures by an Indian bowler on debut - 10-0-76-0. It could be deja vu for Siraj as he also had the second-most expensive figures on his T20I debut as well.

Siraj came in as Khaleel Ahmed's replacement in the playing XI for the 2nd ODI against Australia in Adelaide, making his debut as India's 225th ODI player, which could not be a memorable one.

The Hyderabad pacer was thrashed for 76 runs by Australian batsmen in the 10 overs he bowled, going wicketless as well. He did have a chance to get Glenn Maxwell out, but it was Rohit Sharma who dropped the explosive Aussie, who went on to pile even more runs with Shaun Marsh.

For the record, it was Karsan Ghavri who holds the record for the most expensive bowling figures on ODI debut, conceding 83 runs in 11 overs bowled against England in 1975.

On Siraj's T20I debut as well in 2017 against New Zealand, Siraj leaked 57 runs in Rajkot.

India went on win the series-leveller in Adelaide through skipper Virat Kohli's magnificent ton and MS Dhoni's starry fifty.
