India A registers thumping innings and 205 runs victory over Sri Lanka A in first unofficial test

Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a double-century while Rahul Chahar shined with the ball as India A defeated Sri Lanka A.

Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a double century in the first innings.

Rahul Chahar finished with an eight-wicket match haul as India A won the first unofficial Test match by an innings and 205 runs against Sri Lanka A here on Monday.

Batting first India A had amassed 622 for five declared in the first innings riding on Abhimanyu Easwaran's double century. Priyank Panchal and Amolpreet Singh also contributed to the team's imposing total with a ton each.

In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 232 in their first innings and then folded for 185 in the second essay while following on.

As many as 16 wickets fell in the day as the Sri Lankan batsmen failed to counter the sublime bowling attack led by Chahar and Co.

Chahar bagged four for 78 in the first innings and as many wickets in the second having conceded 45 runs.

Niroshan Dickwella, who cracked a defiant 103 in the first innings, was among the top wickets that Chahar claimed.

Ankit Rajpoot and Jayant Yadav were the other successful bowlers who supported Chahar at the other end. Sandeep Warrier also chipped in with crucial wickets.

Resuming at 83 for four, Sri Lanka A batsmen could not pick the gauntlet up and succumbed to India A bowling attack, losing 13 wickets in the post-lunch session.

Before the massive collapse, Sri Lanka A had gone into lunch with 210 for seven, trailing india A by 412 runs with three wickets in hands.

The only consolation for Sri Lanka A was Dickwella's 103 and 49 by Ashan Priyanjan in the first innings.
