Team India were on their back foot as Englishmen went on to set up a massive target for the hosts in the first ODI of the three match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium today. After electing to bowl first, Indian bowlers put up a decent to poor bowling performance as they gave England ample amount of opportunities.

The visiting team ended their fifty overs innings for 350/7, which is their highest ever total against India.

Both fielders and bowlers of the home team seem to have a bad day in the field today as there were frequent misfields as well as no balls.

It was in the last five or six overs that Indian bowlers completely lost their momentum and gave away runs.

In the first match of the year and his first One-Day International as a full time captain, Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl against England.

While India rested batsman Ajinkya Rahane, medium pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and leg-spinner Amit Mishra for the opening ODI, pacer Liam Plunkett, batsman Sam Billings, Jony Bairstwow and Liam Dawson are missing the outing from visitors’ side.

Teams:

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli (captain), M.S. Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Yuvraj Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav.

England: Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (captain), Jos Buttler (wocketkeeper), Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, David Willey, Jake Ball.
