The International Cricket Council (ICC) will present the ICC Test Championship Mace to Team India captain Virat Kohli at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town after the end of the third and final T20 International against South Africa on Saturday.
On behalf of the ICC, ICC Cricket Hall of Famers India's Sunil Gavaskar and Graeme Pollock of South Africa will make the presentation immediately after the awards ceremony for the T20I series.
India have ensured the number one spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings and a prize of USD 1 million after their victory in the third and final Test at Johannesburg against South Africa last month. In the second Test in Centurion, Kohli scored a a staggering 153-run knock to grab everyone's attention.
Leading from the front, Kohli ensured that no team can move ahead of India in the Test rankings before the 3 April cut-off date.
Kohli has been rampant since 2017 as in the 13 Test matches he has played, the Indian skipper has scored 1345 runs which consists of six hundred, three double tons with an average of 67.25. Kohli received three man of the match awards and a man of the series award as well.
The Indian skipper is currently in the second spot behind Australian captain Steve Smith with 912 points to his name.
If the Test records aren't impressive enough, the Indian skipper has belted South Africa with three centuries in the six-match ODI series that India comfortably won 5-1. India face a real challenge as they take on South Africa in the final fixture of the three-match T20Is and of the 8-week long tour where the series are levelled 1-1. Today's match is expected to be an absolute humdinger as the two nations go head to head in the series decider.
