India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has won many battles for his team on the field. Over the years, the stylish southpaw has earned a special place in the hearts of his fans thorugh his aggressive batting and never-say-die attitude on the field. And even currently when he is not a part of the national team, Gambhir continues to charm one and all through his off-the-field initiatives aimed at bringing relief to the community.
Gambhir, who is known for taking a stand on social issues, has started a community kitchen service in an attempt to feed the hungry and poor at free of cost. The initiative was launched through the Gautam Gambhir Foundation at New Delhi's West Patel Nagar area.
Gambhir shared his emotions though a series of Tweets.
Moved by Gambhir's heart-warming cause, Bollywood superstar and the co-owner of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan, offered to support the southpaw, who is the captain of the KKR. Gambhir led KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Gambhir has come out in support of a social cause.
Earlier, in a noble gesture, Gambhir had decided to support the children of the 25 CRPF men, who got killed in a Maoist attack in Chattisgarh's Sukma district in April this year.
Gambhir said his foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of the martyrs.
