With the T20I series against Australia and India in perspective, England have announced a 14-man squad, calling top-order batsman Joe Root back in the shortest format team for the first time since September 2017. However, all-rounder Ben Stokes has been left out of the squad due to a hamstring injury.
Stokes had suffered a hamstring injury before the second Test against Pakistan this month. Despite being excluded from the squad, the 27-year-old all-rounder will continue his rehabilitation from a torn left hamstring along with the 14-man squad.
Root, who was rested from the shortest format due to captaincy commitments with the Test, has replaced Dawid Malan in the squad.
Root will lead the squad that includes two all-rounders Sam and Tom Curran, the pair of brothers who might represent England together.
Complete squad: Eoin Morgan (C), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, David Willey
