One of the best places to watch cricket in the world, the Eden Gardens is known as the Mecca of Indian cricket. Opened in 1864, the Eden Gardens is one of the oldest cricket stadiums around the world and is considered by many as the second best after The Lord's in England. The Eden Gardens is also the largest cricket ground in India with a seating capacity of 90,000 and is famous for its Colosseum-like architecture. The Eden Gardens hosted its first Test match in 1934 between India and England and it has witnessed many unforgettable matches since then. Previously, it has also been used as a football stadium. The Eden Gardens is home to Indian Premier League franchise and two-time champions - the Kolkata Knight Riders. The stadium also serves as the headquarters of the Cricket Association of Bengal.
