Double delight for Shoaib Malik: Fatherhood and T20I world record within the same week

The 37-year old has broken the record for the most number of catches by a non-wicketkeeper fielder in T20Is.

Malik has been a great outfielder for Pakistan for quite a while now.

The joy of Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik who recently became a father knows no bounds as he now holds a world record in the shortest format of the game. The 37-year old has broken the record for the most number of catches by a non-wicketkeeper fielder in T20Is. 

After the 2nd T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand Dubai, Malik's tally stood at 47 catches in 107 matches thereby breaking South African legend AB de Villiers' long-standing record of 44 scoops in just 78 games. Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor also has 44 catches to his name across 83 matches followed by Indian ace Suresh Raina's 42 off 78 games.

Earlier, Pakistan coasted to an 11th successive Twenty20 series victory after beating New Zealand by six wickets in the second match on Friday.

Babar Azam top-scored with 40 and Mohammad Hafeez provided the finish with an unbeaten 34 off 21 balls as Pakistan cruised to 154-4 with two balls to spare.
