Delhi Daredevil's Rishab Pant scored his maiden Indian Premier League century at the Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 10. The Delhi youngster was electrifying with his performance as he defied all odds, to stun one of the best bowling units in the IPL, to score his first IPL ton, the third this season.
Pant scored the highest score in the 11th edition of the IPL, as earlier Kings XI Punjab's Chris Gayle scored his sixth ton against the same team (SRH) and Shane Watson scored the second ton of the season against Rajasthan Royals. The young Delhiite left no stone unturned as he hammered away at Kotla.
In Pant's fantastic innings, he scored 15 fours and 7 sixes in 63 balls, scoring an unbeaten 128 with a thundering strike rate of 203.17.
The 20-year old left-handed batsman also became the youngest batsman to score 1000 runs in the IPL.
Pant's century can be seen as an 'apology' towards his teammates after he made a few wrong calls between wickets where skipper Shreyas Iyer and Harshal Patel were sent early after getting runout.
Shakib Al Hasan rattled the hosts after he saw off Jason Roy and Prithvi Shaw early during the match as Delhi won the toss and opted to bat against the Kane Williamson led team who are currently the table toppers of the IPL.
The Cricket fraternity showered praises on the young lad's efforts for Delhi Daredevils.
