The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Wednesday appointed the Cricket Committee, which will comprise of former India and Delhi cricketers Virender Sehwag, Aakash Chopra and Rahul Sanghvi.

India opener Gautam Gambhir will be a special invitee to the committee.

"The Cricket Committee is authorised to form various Selection Committees as per the recommendations made by the Lodha Committee and the BCCI guidelines for the State Association and to give valuable guidance to the Association for the improvement of Cricket in Delhi," the DDCA said in a statement released on Wednesday.

"I am pleased to share with you the constitution of Cricket Committee as per the recommendations made by the Lodha Committee and the BCCI guidelines for the State Associations," DDCA President and IndiaTV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma tweeted.

"Mr Gautam Gambhir, current player will be special invitee to the Committee. The  Cricket Committee is authorised to form various Selection Committees and to give valuable guidance to the Association for the improvement of Cricket in Delhi," he added.

After being elected as DDCA President, Mr. Sharma said he aims to transform the state cricket , which has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, into a leading cricket body of the country.

Earlier in July, Mr. Sharma became the new President of the DDCA after registering a landslide victory. He received a total of 1,521 votes (54.40 per cent) in his favour.
