In the saddening news former Indian player Sachin Tendulkar's cricketing coach Ramakant Achrekar passed away today (January 2) in Mumbai. Achrekar was the strongest pillar in Tendulkar's success in international cricket and his inputs made him reach the highest level.
Achrekar founded the Kamath Memorial Cricket Club at Shivaji Park where he trained many former cricketers alongside Tendulkar. Ajit Agarkar, Chandrakant Pandit, Vinod Kambli and Pravin Amre are the one who were trained under him and represented the nation at the highest level.
The whole of cricket fraternity was in shock with that news and they shared their grievance on the sad news. Tendulkar has always credited his success to his coach Achrekar and gave him his highest respect at every stage. Achrekar was the one who guided the Master Blaster in the young age to improve his gifted cricketing techniques.
Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman took to Twitter and shared a photo of Achrekar with young Tendulkar and tweeted,"My heartfelt condolences on the passing away of #RamakantAchrekar Sir , who was instrumental in giving a jewel to Indian cricket."
The Board of Control for Cricket in India also posted a heartfelt note on Twitter on the saddening news," The BCCI expresses its deepest sympathy on the passing of Dronacharya award-winning guru Shri Ramakant Achrekar. Not only did he produce great cricketers, but also trained them to be fine human beings. His contribution to Indian Cricket has been immense."
Mohammad Kaif who took retirement from cricket last year also tweeted about Achrekar, "Condolences to his family and loved ones on the passing away of #RamakantAchrekar sir, who shaped and gave us a gift called Sachin Tendulkar !"
Former Indian left-armer RP Singh also paid his tribute to the Tendulkar's coach on through Twitter,"Sad to know that Ramakant Achrekar sir is no more. My homage to the great soul and condolences to the family. #Achrekarsir"
Some cricket fans also took to Twitter to share their emotions on the disheartening news.
