New Delhi: Fed up with making changes in the venue of important matches due to various reasons, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may soon have a stadium of its own.

To cut down the interruptions from state cricket associations, the BCCI is planning to set up a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in the national capital, says a report in a leading daily.

Anurag Thakur, BCCI President, put forth the proposal before the working committee at a recent meeting in Dharamshala.

The to-be-built stadium will be owned and run by the cricket control body and will help in the smooth conduct of Indian Premier League. Also, matches as crucial as the World Cup finals or and an India-Pakistan encounter will be hosted at the stadium.

This decision by BCCI has come after it was made to change the venues of matches of World T20 and IPL. The Indo-Pak World T20 clash was moved out of Dharamshala due to security reasons and the Bombay High Court ordered to not hold any of the IPL matches in the drought-hit Maharashtra in May.

However, the idea is currently in its initial stage, but the board has chosen the outskirts of Delhi to build its stadium.
