Mumbai: Anurag Thakur, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is likely to back International Cricket Council’s ‘Big Three’ arrangement which allows India, Australia and England the majority of financial benefits from cricket’s governing body.

Earlier in 2013, the ICC’s decision of giving additional powers to India, England and Australia had invited criticism from independent cricket stakeholders.

This seems to be a reaction against current ICC president Shashank Manohar’s idea of abolishment of ‘Big Three’ who wants member countries to equally share the money made by ICC.

According to media reports, Thakur had earlier held a discussion with England and Australia over the issue and is likely to back the ‘Big Three’ system in the next ICC meet in London.

On the contrary, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shaharyar Khan said that Pakistan wants termination of the arrangement.

It is important to mention here that BCCI’s earning could get a significantly hit if the Lodha committee’s recommendations on advertisement restriction during matches come into existence. In that case, BCCI would not want to let go of the money it gets from the ICC.
