Kolkata: Saddened by the flyover tragedy in Kolkata, Australia women's team vice-captain Alex Blackwell today condoled the death of several people in the incident ahead of their Women World Twenty20 cricket summit clash against the West Indies on Saturday.
"First of all I would like to offer my condolence to the families affected by the bridge collapse that we learnt about when we arrived. Obviously it's a very tough time, and all the emergency crew that are currently working on it. We're with them," she said today.
More than a dozen were killed and several injured after being trapped under a flyover collapse in a densely populated locality in north Kolkata near Ganesh Talkies near Girish Park yesterday afternoon. Several people are still trapped under the debris even as the rescue operation is going on.
