After all the acrimony both on and off the field, Australian spearhead Mitchell Starc today took to Twitter to congratulate Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the series win against Australia in the just concluded Border-Gavaskar Test series.
As magnanimous as that may sound, the tweet from Starc, who shared the RCB dressing room with Kohli before parting ways ahead of this year’s auction, an honest gaffe turned the tables upside down.
It so happened that instead of sending the tweet to the verified Virat Kohli Twitter account (@imVkohli), the Tweet landed up in a parody account by the name of @imVkohIIi.
The owner of the parody account didn’t hesitate to share the Aussie pacer’s message with the public.
“Hey friend :) Hopefully I don't have to look for a new IPL team?? Haha media hey! Didn't get a chance to have a proper catch up mate but Congrats on the series win and on your summer personally... I hope that shoulder is on the mend and not too bad. Good luck for the ipl, here's hoping to an RCB win. Cheers mate," Starc's message read.
In the recently concluded series, India returned from one down in Pune to win the second Test in Bangalore. The third Test in Ranchi ended in a draw but the series decider in Dharamsala went to India.
The Kohli-led side outclassed Australia in every department to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2-1.
Virat Kohli-led Team India retained the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Championship mace following its 2-1 series win over Australia earlier this week.
They stand to pocket USD 1 million for the achievement.
