Former India opener Virender Sehwag heaped praises on the 30-year-old batsman, saying: "Brilliant 100 from Mohammad Shahzad. Seems to be batting on a different wicket."

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif didn't shy to call him one man army.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman joined in, saying: "This has been an incredible innings from Mohammad Shahzad. A century when the team score is 133/5 . Will need support from others to take Afghanistan to a respectable score."

India made wholesome changes in their playing XI by resting skipper Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and the pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah

KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar, Siddarth Kaul and Khaleel Ahmed have been included in the playing XI.
