After having a poor record in recent series this year, the Australian team is all set to lock horns against India in the first Test of four-match Test series at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Under Tim Paine's leadership, the current Aussie side can be compared as a weaker one to their past glorious teams. A day before the opening test the Kangaroos have announced their playing XI for the match.
The only shocker in the playing XI was the exclusion of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who could be handy as an extra pacer at the bouncy Oval pitch. While Peter Handscomb made his return into the team.
The 26-year old left-hander Marcus Harris will make his debut after a successful domestic season and will open the innings alongside limited overs skipper Aaron Finch. The hosts will enter the field with the deadly pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins who can trouble Indian batsmen at their own den.
While the Indian team has also announced the 12-member squad for the Adelaide Test in which Bhuvneshwar Kumar and chinaman Kuldeep Yadav miss out from the team.
In the current 12-member squad, the only choice skipper Virat Kohli has to make is between his limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma and promising young talent Hanuma Vihari who scored half-century on his debut at tough English conditions earlier this year.
