All-rounder Vijay Shankar made his ODI debut for India in the 3rd and final ODI of the three-match series against Australia in Melbourne.
Shankar made his way in as India made three changes to their playing XI as the all-rounder comes in for Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal replaces chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and all-rounder Kedar Jadhav comes in for Ambati Rayudu.
Shankar was handed his ODI cap by vice-captain Rohit Sharma before the match.
Shankar has played 5 T20Is for India in which he has taken three wickets and given away 154 runs at an average of 51 and an economy rate of 9.
For the hosts, Australia as well made two changes to their team as pacer Billy Stanlake came in for an injured Jason Behrendorff and Adam Zampa replaces Nathan Lyon.
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bowl at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) in Melbourne.
Kohli announced the team news after winning the toss. “Rohit, DK, and MS batted beautifully as well so it was a total team effort. Siraj makes way for Vijay Shankar, Chahal for Kuldeep, Jadhav for Rayudu,” he said.
