PHL is a 51:49 joint venture of the government and ONGC providing helicopter and aero mobility services. ONGC had earlier decided to offer its entire shareholding to the successful bidder identified in the GoI strategic disinvestment transaction, on the same price and terms as government.
The government has extended the preliminary bid submission deadline for buying Pawan Hans by a month till February 18. The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) had in December invited bids for strategic sale, along with transfer of management control, of helicopter service provider Pawan Hans. The date for bid submission was January 19.
After two unsuccessful attempts, the government on Tuesday invited fresh bids for strategic sale of helicopter services provider Pawan Hans along with transfer of management control.
Having failed to privatise Pawan Hans last fiscal, the government has significantly diluted the terms of sale pertaining to employee retrenchment, asset sale and tax liability to attract bidders this time around, sources said.
The Centre on Thursday invited fresh bids for offloading its stake in Pawan Hans Ltd (PHL). Previously also the government attempted to sell the country's biggest public sector helicopter operator. In PHL, the government holds 51 per cent stake.
Helicopter services provider Pawan Hans is a joint venture between the government, which holds 51 per cent stake, and state-owned ONGC, which owns the remaining 49 per cent shareholding. Pawans Hans has a fleet of 46 choppers.
The chopper company is a 51:49 joint venture between the Civil Aviation Ministry and oil behemoth ONGC.
While the search is on for the remaining one person, the ill-fated Chopper’s VDR too has been recovered, ONGC said in a statement.
