The Chhattisgarh government has introduced a new policy offering financial support, job training, and rehabilitation to encourage Naxals to surrender and reintegrate into society, aiming to end Naxalism by 2026.
The District Reserve Guard, Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF’s elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and local police conducted an operation on Friday to arrest these Naxalites.
Naxals in Chhattisgarh used villagers, including minors, as human shields during a firefight with security forces, resulting in civilian injuries and the death of seven insurgents, including a wanted Maoist leader.
Bijapur encounter: According to Bijapur police, a search operation was launched in the area following the exchange of fire.
Narayanpur Encounter: Personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Narayanpur and Kondagaon districts, and the Border Security Force (BSF) are involved in the operation.
As many as 14 Naxalites were apprehended from the Jagargunda police station area, while five were caught in the Bhejji police station limits.
An encounter took place between the police and the Naxalites in the Kopri forest of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. A C60 commando team of Gadchiroli police and a CRPF team carried out the operation.
In Chhattisgarh, 30 Naxals were killed in an encounter with the police, and their bodies, along with a large cache of automatic weapons, were recovered.
The incident occurred in the Tarrem police station area when a team of security personnel was out on a demining exercise from Chinngelur CRPF camp in the area.
The encounter between the Naxals and police personnel lasted for more than six hours in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. Police have recovered 12 bodies of Naxals from the spot besides seven automotive weapons, including 3 AK-47s, 2 INSAS rifles, a carbine and an SLR.
The surrendered Naxalites were provided assistance of Rs 25,000 each, and will be rehabilitated as per the government's policy, an official said.
A gun battle broke out when a District Reserve Guard (DRG) team under Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Anjneya Varshney was out on an anti-Naxalite operation.
Prima facie, the police said that the modus operandi of the attack suggested it was executed by a "small action team of Naxalites.
Superintendent of Police Neelotpal said an AK-47 rifle, a carbine, an INSAS rifle, Naxal literature and items were found at the encounter spot.
The polling for Palamu Lok Sabha constituency will be held in the fourth phase on May 13. BJP has fielded its two-time sitting MP and former DGP Jharkhand Vishnu Dayal Ram, while the RJD has given Mamata Bhuiyan as its candidate.
Chhattisgarh encounter: Intermittent firing is still underway and further details are awaited. No harm was reported to security personnel in the incident so far.
Along with the deceased insurgents, automatic weapons such as LMGs have been seized from the encounter site. Police parties are still present in the jungles, with search operations ongoing in the area.
According to officials, the encounter broke out in the forest area near Chikurbatti-Pusbaka in Bijapur district. It said the DRG, CRPF 229, and CoBRA teams were involved in the operation
Chhattisgarh news: According to the police, Tirupati Katla, the convener of BJP Cooperative Cell of Bijapur, was attacked when he had gone to attend a wedding and was brought dead to the hospital.
The explosion occurred around 9 am when a team of security personnel was out on an area domination operation.
