In 12 days, more than 275 flights operated by the Indian carriers have received bomb threats. Most of the threats were issued through social media.
The flights of IndiGo, Vistara and Air India were among those that received the bomb threats, the sources in the know said.
Over 20 flights from Indian airlines received bomb threats on Sunday, prompting emergency responses, though many threats this week have been confirmed as hoaxes.
Since the past few months, the bomb threats for the flights have increased. On Monday and Tuesday alone, several domestic and international flights of Air India and IndiGo received threats. Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Monday also convened a meeting with senior officials.
Initially scheduled to land in Lucknow, the aircraft was diverted to Jaipur for safety reasons. The plane is currently stationed in an isolation bay, as per officials.
