Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has slammed the US over imposing "inhumane" sanctions, saying the White House is responsible for all the "hostile measures and crimes" against Tehran.

A joint statement said fight against terrorism should not only seek to disrupt and eliminate terrorists, terror networks, but should also identify and address conditions conducive to terrorism as well as extremist ideologies.

Rouhani, who is on a three-day visit to India, said people who think Islam is a religion of "violence and terrorism" are wrong in their assessment.
