Gujarat: The bridge is a part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, a 508-kilometer corridor that aims to transform high-speed rail travel in India by connecting two of the country's largest economic hubs with a top speed of 320 km per hour.

The Indian Railways has already announced that the first phase of the bullet train project between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat will be operationalised by 2026.

The 508-km Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed corridor is the first in the country on which a bullet train will run at 320 kmph speed covering the whole distance in just 2 hours and 7 minutes with limited stops at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
Bullet Train construction update: Of 21 km of tunnel in the bullet train project, 16 km will be excavated using tunnel boring machines (TBMs), while NATM will be used for the remaining 5 km.
According to the NHSRCL, the bullet train will take 2 hours and 58 minutes to cover the distance of 508 km, while running at maximum speed of 320 kmph. The time duration includes stoppage time at all 10 stations.
Out of the total 508-km-long project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, viaduct has been raised on a length of 272 km. There are eight rivers on the route and bridges have been built over five of them.
Of the 508 km route, 351 km will pass through Gujarat and 157 km will pass through Maharashtra.
