The BSF foiled an infiltration attempt at the India-Bangladesh border in Murshidabad, arresting four Bangladeshi nationals with fake Aadhaar cards. An Indian tout was also apprehended for facilitating the illegal entry.
In response to this "alarming" situation, the BSF said, its North Bengal Frontier Inspector General headquartered in Siliguri "promptly reached out to the Region Commander of the North West Region, BGB, demanding the immediate release of the abducted jawan."

The officials stated that despite being promptly challenged, the individual persisted in advancing towards the border fence in an apparent attempt to enter India. The body is being handed over to the Police as per legal protocols.
The officials said that BSF personnel manning the border outpost in Makwal retaliated befittingly to the firing from across the border. No casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side, they added.
As per the BSF, the troops, with a quick reflex, following the protocol, promptly tracked the movement of the drone. The alertness and swift action of BSF troops on duty led to the successful recovery of yet another drone launched from across the border.
According to the BSF officials, the drone was intercepted near Tindi Wala village in Ferozepur district. There have been several instances of BSF-recovered drones, used by drug smugglers, that have come from across the Pakistan border in Punjab.
Among those arrested were 32 Bangladeshis who tried to cross the border to India and 13 Indians who tried to go to the neighbouring country illegally.
According to officials, the drone was recovered during a joint operation by the Border Security Force and the Punjab Police.
Inspector General of Border Security Force (Rajasthan Frontier) Puneet Rastogi said that the number of security checkpoints will be increased as well as camel and foot patrolling will be strengthened.
