In a shocking incident, a US woman was duped into buying artificial jewellery worth Rs 300 for a whopping Rs 6 crore by a Rajasthan shop owner, the police said. The accused shopkeeper and his son have been absconding since the incident. However, the Police have made one arrest in the case.

According to reports, US citizen Cherish said that she had purchased from a shop located in Johri Bazaar of Manak Chowk police station area of ​​Jaipur. The woman said that after purchasing the jewellery, she had returned to America. When an exhibition was organised there in April, he showed the jewellery he had purchased there. From there it was revealed that these were fake.

After this, the victim woman Cherish immediately returned to Jaipur. When she complained to the shop owner Rajendra Soni and his son Gaurav, they denied that the jewellery was fake and refused to listen to the woman. Cherish then complained to the shop owners at Manak Chowk police station on May 18. The shop owners also filed a case against Cherish for spreading false news about the shop and ruining their image.

As a last resort, Charis appealed to the embassy for help and after their intervention, ​​the police started investigation. The investigation revealed fraud on the part of the shopkeepers following which father and son fled. Nand Kishore who prepared a fake certificate of the authenticity of the jewellery, has been arrested by the police.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat, the accused had sold gold-polished silver jewellery to a foreign woman for Rs 6 crore. The accused also prepared a fake certificate and made the woman believe that the jewellery sold was genuine. He said that a special police team had been formed to arrest the accused. The inspection of the matter is going on.
