  1. An ongoing operation to recover the body of a 13-year-old boy who fell into a 70-foot deep well has continued for more than 50 hours in Rajasthan's Rajsamand district, police said on Sunday.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has been working tirelessly to pump out the water flowing into the well to facilitate the recovery operation for Lalit Singh, a resident of Palra village, who fell into the well on Friday afternoon while he was out to graze his goats in Kanavas Chapri village.

Significantly, the children accompanying Lalit, first informed about the incident to his maternal grandfather, Ganesh Singh, who then alerted the police.

"The boy fell into the well and unfortunately died. The SDRF team is conducting an operation to recover the body. The biggest challenge we face is the continuous water flow into the well," stated Dewair SHO Bhawani Shankar.

Further, he said that the rescue operation, initiated on Friday afternoon, has been particularly challenging due to the depth of the water. To aid the efforts, the police summoned a team of six members from the Civil Defence in Rajsamand, he added.

It is pertinent to note that in a similar incident in April, a 6-year-old boy died after falling into an open borewell in an agricultural field in Manika village, located in the Janeh police station area of Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. Despite a 45-hour-long rescue operation, the boy could not be saved.

Additional SP Vivek Lal Singh says, " NDRF, police, local team, people and local administration worked hard for around 45 hours. The team worked continuously for 45 hours with all the precautions and safety measures but we couldn't save his life."
