This marks the twelfth suspected suicide by a student enrolled in coaching institutes in Kota since January. In 2023, Kota recorded a total of 26 student suicides.
Hrishit found hanging
Dadabari ASI Shambhu Dayal said that Hrishit Kumar Agrawal, a student of Class 12, was preparing for NEET at a coaching institute. He was a resident of Bihar.
He resided in a rented room within a building in the Chota Chaurahin Dadabari area, where several other coaching students also lived. On Thursday around 1 pm, fellow students alerted the police when Hrishit didn't respond to knocks on his door. Upon breaking open the door, the police discovered Agrawal hanging from a ceiling fan inside his room.
No suicide note found
No suicide note was found in Agarwal’s room, according to the ASI.
The body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, indicating that the incident likely occurred on Wednesday, he added.
Agarwal had been preparing for medical college entrance exams and attending coaching classes in Kota for the past two years, stated Dadabari Circle Inspector Naresh Kumar Meena. He also mentioned that the boy’s parents have been notified.
The body has been transferred to MBS Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which will take place after the arrival of his parents, he further informed.
