Tragedy struck on Friday in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, as a Uttar Pradesh (UP) Roadways bus collided with a trailer truck on the Halaina Mahua Highway, resulting in the death of five women and injuring 12 others.
According to police reports, the UP Transport bus, en route from Aligarh to Jaipur, crashed into the trailer truck ahead, causing the fatal accident.
Sub Inspector Brijendra Singh stated that the impact of the collision claimed the lives of four women instantly, while 13 others sustained injuries. One of the injured women passed away during treatment at the Bharatpur government hospital, he added
One of the injured narrating the harrowing details of the incident revealed that the bus was traveling at high speed.The driver was trying to overtake the trailer truck but could not apply brakes in time, leading to the collison. The attack also left the front portion of the bus severely damaged.
Meanwhile, upon learning of the incident, Bharatpur collector Amit Yadav and SP Mridul Kachawa promptly arrived at the accident site and the government hospital to oversee the situation. They inquired about the condition of the injured and directed medical staff to provide optimal treatment.
Police informed that the bodies of the deceased were being kept in the mortuary and post-mortem will be conducted once their families arrive.
