On June 24, the state government had directed District Magistrates and Commissioners to issue Scheduled Caste certificates to 17 OBCs - Kashyap, Rajbhar, Dhivar, Bind, Kumhar, Kahar, Kewat, Nishad, Bhar, Mallah, Prajapati, Dhimar, Batham, Turha, Godia, Manjhi and Machua.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has filed a case against the journalist, who shot the video of school children being served roti with salt for mid-day meal in Mirzapur.

Two days ago, Anandiben Patel visited a school in Barabanki district and told the girl students there to hurl stones at boys who stalk them. "You should be fearless and not depend on others for protection," she said. She also inspected health services in the district and directed officials to work in coordination.  

The vigil will be conducted by special operatives apart from top functionaries in the government and the party. According to sources, soon after the recent expansion of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Cabinet, the working of the ministers along with their personal secretaries and public relations officers is also going to be monitored. Sources say the monitoring is being done by key people involved in governance and also from the party.

He also demanded an explanation as to why he, university registrar and other officials didn't inform the government.

Twenty-three ministers – the 18 new faces and five others who were elevated from the minister of state rank they held earlier – were sworn in by Governor Anandiben Patel at the Raj Bhavan. Six of the 23 were sworn in as cabinet ministers, six as ministers of state with an independent charge and the remaining 11 get the MoS rank. Their portfolios are likely to be announced later. Five ministers resigned Tuesday night from the original 43-member ministry.

The most significant aspect of Wednesday's reshuffle is that majority of the newly inducted ministers are first-timers with almost no administrative experience. Yogi Adityanath will face an uphill task in making these ministers perform.

The reshuffle, and the possible induction of new members, is likely to fill the slots that have fallen vacant in the last few months, particularly after some ministers got elected to the Lok Sabha.

The Yogi government has a total of 43 ministers, including the Chief Minister. There are 18 Cabinet Ministers, nine Ministers of State with Independent charge and 13 Ministers of State, including two Deputy Chief Ministers -- Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma.
