As part of Deepotsav, the UP government is lighting over 12 lakh diyas (earthen lamps), nine lakh of which will be lit on the banks of the Saryu, bettering the previous Diwali record.

Adityanath, who is in Ayodhya to attend the Deepotsava programme, said, "We have made the impossible possible with the beginning of construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The world said it was impossible. But we made it possible." He termed it as the victory of the belief of the Indian population and power of democracy.

Yogi Adityanath said that Akhilesh Yadav's act of glorifying Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah is shameful and portrays the Samajwadi Party chief's Talibani mentality.
