India's champion wrestler Vinesh Phogat underwent a successful knee surgery in Mumbai and is looking forward to making a stronger comeback.

Vinesh Phogat was exempted from the Asian Games trials in the 53kg category. With Phogat now missing the event, 19-year-old Antim Panghal who was in standbys despite winning the trials in the same weight category will participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia are yet to confirm their participation for the forthcoming trials of the wrestling World Championships.

Outgoing WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Siongh's close aide Sanjay Singh is one of the contenders to become the next chief in the elections on Saturday.

19-year-old Indian wrestler Antim Panghal will move the Supreme Court against the Asian Games trials exemption to Vinesh Phogat after winning the 53kg category trials herself.

" I got a call from the govt saying that they are forwarding the name of both of them (Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat) directly for the Asian Games and asked me to send a mail so that my name could also be forwarded," Sakshi Malik revealed.

"This is wrong, we are here to request the panel to withdraw exemption granted to Bajrang and Vinesh," Vikas Bhardhwaj, the coach of Antim Panghal said.

WFI's decision to give an exemption to Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat from the Asian Games trial has been met with widespread criticism from wrestling coaches and other players.

The protesting wrestlers clarified their stance on the Asian Games trials saying that enemies are trying to disrupt their unity while alleging fabricated truth.

Vinesh posted a picture of the letter on social media. It doesn't say when it was written, but six wrestlers asked for more time to train before the trials.

Vinesh Phogat levelled several allegations against London Olympics medallist Yogeshwar Dutt saying that he tried to disregard the wrestlers' protest while calling him Brijh Bhushan Sharan Singh's lackey.

Several top wrestlers of the country have been demanding wrestling federation chief Brij Bhushan's arrest on allegations of sexual harassment against wrestlers, including a minor.

"It's better that truth comes out now instead of in the court," the father said when asked why he is changing his story now.

During the five-hour-long meeting, protesting wrestlers were reportedly presented a written proposal by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. However, it was unclear whether their prime demand to remove WFI chief will be met or not.

This comes a few hours after a delegation of India's top wrestlers met Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday at his official residence in the capital.

Bajrang, Sakshi, and Vinesh have led a protest by wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, where they have accused the WFI's outgoing president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, of sexually harassing numerous wrestlers, including a minor.

Wrestlers protest: The representatives of various khaps and farmers' outfits reached the Jat Dharamshala from different places, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for supporting wrestlers in large number.
