Udai Bhan

Hodal (Congress)

Udai Bhan is the president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee. He represented the Hassanpur Assembly constituency three times in 1987, 2000, and 2005, and Hodal once in 2014. In the 1987 Haryana polls, Uday Bhan, as a Lok Dal nominee, won the Hassanpur constituency for the first time by defeating Congress candidate Chhote Lal by 4,472 votes. However, he was defeated by Congress candidate Ram Rattan in the 1991 Haryana Assembly Elections by just 835 votes. He again lost the seat in 1996 when the Haryana Vikas Party's (HVP) Jagdish Nayar defeated him. Udai Bhan made a comeback in 2000 as an independent candidate and won the seat by trouncing Jagdish Nayar with a margin of 4,855 votes. He retained the seat in 2005 by again defeating Nayar. After the delimitation process, Bhan contested from the Hodal seat in 2009 but lost to Nayar again. He again avenged his defeat in 2014 when Nayar was defeated by him with a margin of 11,680 votes. However, Nayar, who joined the BJP, defeated Bhan yet again in 2019. He is again contesting from the Hodal constituency in the 2024 Haryana Assembly polls against BJP candidate Harinder Singh Ramrattan, Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Manohar, Indian National Lok Dal's (INLD) Sunil Kumar, and Jannayak Janta Party's (JJP) Satveer Tanwar
