As per the affidavit filed by Gandhi during submitting her nomination, she only has Rs 60,000 in cash and fixed deposits to the tune of Rs 16.59 lakh. 

When asked if PM Modi was invincible, Sonia Gandhi told reporters: "Not at all. Remember 2004? Atal Bihari Vajpayee looked invincible. But we won."

She also offered puja at the Congress' central office in Rae Bareli before starting the roadshow.

Raj has invited Congress president Rahul Gandhi but has snubbed the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah from the list.

According to the report, the Gandhis landed by a special flight and will stay at a five-star resort in South Goa.  

During his two-day visit, the Congress chief is expected to take part in several party programmes and a meeting of the district vigilance and monitoring committee, the leader said.  

"This rally marks an important attempt to galvanise leaders across the political spectrum to fight the arrogant and divisive Modi-rule. I wish them all the success," she said.  

The tax matter is related to the National Herald case in which the Congress leaders are also facing criminal proceedings.

The Delhi High Court had last month asked the Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), the publisher of National Herald to vacate the premises in the Press Enclave at ITO in the national capital.

In an exclusive interview to ANI, PM Modi said that his government has made all efforts to take action against the top leaders of the Congress party who allegedly have been involved in any wrong doing.

In a series of tweets, Shah said the "friendship" between Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the deal, and Congress' top leadership is "time tested and deep". He also asked what is this ‘Family Balm’ that every middleman wants.

He also accused the previous Congress government of corruption, saying it compromised with the national security.

The ED further added that Michel had taken the name of Mrs Gandhi but it is yet to be ascertained in what reference he said that.
