The nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) are Ranveer Singh (“83”), Vicky Kaushal (“Sardar Udham”), Sidharth Malhotra (“Shershaah”), late Irrfan Khan (“Angrezi Medium”), and Manoj Bajpayee (“Bhonsle”). 

While Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah led the IIFA Awards 2022 nominations with a place in all 12 categories, Ranveer Singh's 83 and Abhishek Bachchan's multi-starrer Ludo followed with 9 and 6 nominations respectively.

Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, the espionage thriller set in the 1970s has Sidharth Malhotra essaying the role of a RAW agent who lead a covert operation on Pakistani soil. The film also marks the Hindi debut of India's sweetheart Rashmika Mandanna.

Last year, Rohit Shetty had confirmed that the web series based on cops was in development. He will be a showrunner on it. Reportedly, Sidharth Malhotra will begin shooting on this much-anticipated project in Mumbai very soon.

Yodha: In the motion poster, Sidharth Malhotra could be seen donning a fierce look as he stands all bruised while holding a fighter gun in an aeroplane. The movie seems to be based on an aeroplane hijack story. As per the production house, the movie will have two female leads, whose names will be announced soon.   

'Shershaah' depicts the story of Indian Army officer Captain Vikram Batra (played by Sidharth Malhotra), who laid down his life during the Kargil War of 1999.

"Not Sidharth Malhotra, the actor is not yet finalised. We are planning a web series, it is a cop-based show but nothing is finalised. We have written one draft. But in between everything changed - theatres started opening, we had to stop all our work and concentrate solely on 'Sooryavanshi," Rohit Shetty said.
