In the last decade, Shahid Kapoor gave a potboiler comedy like Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, crime film Udta Punjab and eccentric dramas like Haider and Padmaavat. His last release Kabir Singh was a huge hit too.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for Jersey to hit the big screens and finally the time has come. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, it is the Hindi remake of Gowtam Tinnanuri's 2019 Telugu film of the same title, featuring Nani. Here's how the audience is receiving it.

Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor as Arjun Talwar and Mrunal Thakur as his wife Vidya Talwar, a married couple with a kid trying to face life's odds. The movie's backdrop is set against cricket.

Shahid Kapoor reacted to the multiple postponements of his sports drama Jersey but did not mention Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 in his response during an Ask Me Anything session on Twitter.

In Jersey, Shahid will be seen reuniting onscreen with his father Pankaj. The makers of the film shared that the film which was earlier supposed to debut in theatres on April 14, will now release on April 22.

Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Jersey' is to release on 22nd April. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor.

Apart from Zafar's film, Shahid Kapoor is set to make his OTT debut with a Prime Video series from The Family Man" creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. 

Shilpa Shetty, who is one of the judges on 'India's Got Talent' reality TV show, shared a video in which she could be seen dancing with Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur on the 'Kabir Singh' actor's famous peppy track 'Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai' from his 2013 rom-com 'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero'.

"The choice to go on to the OTT platform was to break the trend, was to do something different and challenge myself. I have been doing this for almost 20 years, I need to feel challenged and excited," said Shahid Kapoor.

Starring Shahid Kapoor, Jersey is about an ex-cricketer struggling to make ends meet and wants to fulfill his child's wish of getting a Jersey but in the process comes face to face with his heroic past and is forced to decide if he will rise to the occasion and become a symbol of hope or continue to live a life as a loser?

During a promotional interview with SS Rajamouli, Sandeep Reddy Vanga was asked if Ranbir Kapoor's character in the film will share similarities with Shahid Kapoor's role in Kabir Singh. Without giving away many details, the filmmaker assured that the two characters are very different, however, they have one similarity. 

Shahid Kapoor's film is said to be the official adaptation of the 2011 French film "Nuit Blanche" ('Sleepless Night'), which was adapted into Tamil as "Thoongaa Vanam" and released in 2015. It was fronted by South superstar Kamal Haasan.  

Shahid Kapoor dropped an adorable picture of Neelima Azeem and Mira Rajput. In the image, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can be seen sharing smiles. For the unversed, Shahid and Mira tied the knot in 2015. They are doting parents to two children -- Misha and Zain.  

Seem Pahwa, who was recently seen in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', shared pictures from her son's wedding on Instagram on Thursday. Further, she wrote, "Happiest day in my life god bless you both love you and feel proud to announce my son MAYANK PAHWA & SANHA KAPOOR got married so so so happy."

Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgn are being considered for the Hindi remake of Shyam Singha Roy, while there is no update on the female leads. The Telugu movie was released in December last year and co-starred Sai Pallavi. 

For the wedding day, Sanah Kapur wore a colour coordinated lehenga choli. Her choli was red coloured while the lehenga and bridal veil were of pastel blue colour. On the other hand, Mayank wore a black indo-western. One of the pictures has the couple looking at each other, while the second one featured them standing under a gazebo.

Mira Rajput looked like a dream in an all-white lehenga. While Shahid Kapoor complemented her in a black kurta paired with a black Nehru jacket. The couple is currently in Mahableshwar attending Sanah Kapur's wedding. Sanah is Shahid's step sister. She is the daughter of Pankaj Kapoor and Supriya Pathak.

Sanah Kapur, Mayank Pahwa have known each other for quite a long time and also got engaged sometime back. Their grand wedding will take place on Wednesday (March 2) in Mahabaleshwar. Their Chura ceremony was attended by their family and friends including Shahid Kapoor-Mira, Naseeruddin Shah-Ratna Pathak, their son's Vivaan Shah and Imaad Shah.
