After the ICC announced its decision, the PCB issued a statement expressing surprise at the ban imposed of captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Sarfraz will miss the remaining two matches in the ongoing ODI series, followed by two T20I matches against South Africa.
Sarfaraz Ahmed was caught making racist comments towards Andile Phehlukwayo by the stump mic in the 37th over of South Africa's run chase on Tuesday in the second ODI.
"We can forgive but that doesn't mean we brush it under the table," he added.
The PCB also said that such incidents underline the role of educational training and it will work towards providing it.
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said that Sarfaraz Ahmed's conduct was totally unacceptable.
Sarfraz made the comments against Phehlukwayo in the 37th over of South Africa's run chase on Tuesday. South Africa eventually won the match by five wickets.
Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed was heard racially abusing South Africa's all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the 2nd ODI in Durban and has been facing a severe backlash on social media.
