The trend that BJP and Congress parties are voted to power alternately appears to continue in the state. Neither the BJP or the Congress have been able to win consecutive Assembly elections in Rajasthan since 1993.

Official trends from the Election Commission showed the Congress party leading on 98 seats, the BJP at the same time was at 65.

The Election Commission said 74.02 per cent of voters exercised their franchise, a tally just short of the 75.23 per cent registered in the previous assembly election.

Paramilitary jawans opened fire in the air to disperse miscreants trying to force their way into a booth at a village in Alwar's Shahjahapur. In Bikaner's Kolayat, two groups clashed outside a polling booth and a vehicle was torched.

“Electioneering ended at 5 pm today. Polling will take place from 8 am to 5 pm on December 7 in 199 constituencies,” Rajasthan’s chief electoral officer Anand Kumar said.

Asked whether the party may have to chose its chief minister among the two top contenders, Pilot replied: “I say with pride, why two? There are half a dozen, if not 12 to 14 such leaders who can reach the highest post”.

In an exclusive interview with IndiaTV, Vasundhara Raje said she a 'super plan' ready for the state polls scheduled to be held on December 7. The Rajasthan CM appeared confident of winning the Assembly elections.

In the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly, Cong may win 110 to 120 seats, while the BJP may win 70 to 80 seats. Mayawati's BSP may win 1 to 3 seats, IndiaTV-CNX Opinion Poll shows.

Meena, who is a five-time legislator and seen as the patriarch of the Meena community, said Sachin Pilot "was already a chief minister for the Congress" so he should clear his stand on reservation to Gujjars and Meenas.  

Promises that can be fulfilled right after coming to power will be announced in the manifesto, Pilot said.  

"We will come to power with 2/3 majority in Rajasthan," Sachin Pilot said speaking at a public gathering in Bikaner.

While the C fore survey is restricted to Rajasthan, the ABP News-CVoter opinion poll has also predicted the outcome of the Assembly elections in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, giving an edge to the Congress in both the states.

"It is a yet another victory for party workers. In the last four years, the BJP has exploited people of the state due to its anti-people policies," Pilot said.

The ordinance seeks to protect public servants from being investigated for on-duty action, without its prior sanction and bars the media from reporting on such accusations.

In the Congress, Sachin Pilot said that the new generation comes in, with the old lending their support to it. He favoured a “balanced approach” and claimed the Congress had maintained this as part of its history and tradition.

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot announced that leaders from 15 opposition parties will converge in Jaipur on September 14 for the third edition of the 'Sanjhi Virasat Bachao Sammelan'
