The launch of a ship marks the commencement of the next phase involving extensive outfitting activities by the shipyards readying these vessels for delivery.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a fire at a building here which left at least 26 persons dead.  He said Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund will be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives, and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, his cabinet colleagues, and senior government officials will also be present in the programme.

India and China have held 15 rounds of military talks so far to resolve the eastern Ladakh standoff. As a result of the talks, the two sides completed the disengagement process last year in the north and south banks of the Pangong lake and in the Gogra area.

India has previously rejected criticism by foreign governments and human rights groups on allegations that civil liberties have eroded in the country.

Jaishankar made the remarks while addressing a joint news conference with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with their American counterparts Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

US said that energy imports from Russia are not banned or part of sanctions, therefore, New Delhi is not violating US sanctions.

US State Department Blinken will also hold a meeting with Jaishankar before the 2+2 dialogue. The last 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between the two countries was held in October 2020 in New Delhi.

US State Dept in a media has informed that US State Secy Antony Blinken and Secy of Defense will welcome their Indian counterparts in Washington DC today.
