Rajinikanth penned down a special note on the 75th Independence day and also treated fans with a video on his social media account.

The film, which will be Rajinikanth's 169th film, is being produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures and has Anirudh scoring its music. Other members of the cast and crew are yet to be announced by the unit.

R Madhavan posted a video on Twitter thanking the superstar Rajinikanth for his praise. "I don't know what to say and (the credit goes to) Nambi Narayanan sir and the full team," the actor said in Tamil.  

Vijayakanth, who is one of Tamil cinema's popular actors and well known politicians, is said to be recovering well in a private hospital, where he underwent surgery in which three of the toes on his right leg were amputated.

Rajinikanth and director Shankar's meeting lasted for a good 45 minutes during which period the two discussed a number of topics including the film industry and Shankar's upcoming film with Ram Charan.

Rajinikanth was last seen in the 2021 actioner Annaatthe, directed by Siva. His upcoming film 'Thaliavar 169' will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Nelson's upcoming directorial is with Vijay and Pooja Hegde, titled Beast.

Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya took to Instagram and informed fans about her COVID positive report. She wrote, "Tested positive even after all the precautions..got admitted. Please mask up, get vaccinated and be safe. Bring it on 2022. We will see what more is that you have in store for me."
