Rahul Gandhi is the Congress leader and has been representing the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency since 2019. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat by defeating Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate PP Suneer with a margin of 4,31,770 votes. However, Gandhi was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Zubin Irani from his family's stronghold Amethi with a margin of 55,120 votes in the 2019 polls. Rahul Gandhi won three consecutive elections from Amethi in 2004, 2009 and 2014. He defeated Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidates Chandra Parkash Mishra Matiyari and Asheesh Shukla in the 2004 and 2009 polls respectively from Amethi. Rahul Gandhi again won the Amethi constituency in 2014 by defeating Smriti Zubin Irani with a margin of 1,07,903 votes. Gandhi was the president of the Congress party from 2017 to 2019.

First time after donning the mantle of the party chief, Gandhi is all set to pay a two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Amethi from tomorrow.
In his brief statement, Rahul Gandhi said that all citizens who love the idea of justice and believe in the Supreme Court were looking at the developments, and therefore it was important that those were addressed.
In a statement issued here, the grand old party said that the “observations made by the honourable judges and the issues raised by them in the press conference and in the letter are extremely disturbing”.
The Congress also issued a statement where it said the issues raised by the four judges were "extremely disturbing" and have "far-reaching consequences for values we hold sacred".
Without disclosing what they were upset about, the four judges -- Justice J Chelameswar (the No.2 in the apex court hierarchy), Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Kurien Joseph and Justice Madan B Lokur, said that “they have been compelled to do this”.
Patole resigned from the BJP on December 8, a day before the first phase of the Gujarat elections.
It was on December 11 last year when Rahul Gandhi took over the reigns from mother Sonia Gandhi as the new Congress President.

Gandhi, who will be a state guest of Bahrain, is also expected to meet King Hamas bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Gandhi will be chief guest at the three-day valedictory function organised by 'Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin' (GOPIO) starting on Monday.
A complaint against Rahul is already pending before the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha, chaired by BJP veteran LK Advani, after the speaker forwarded the same to it.
"Are the 'defenders of democracy' and 'harbingers of accountability' listening?" he asked in tweets using '#FindingLokpal' as hashtag.
"Met with the CPC Delegation led by Mr Meng Xiangfeng, member of the CPC Central Committee for a meaningful exchange of views," the Congress president tweeted.
The tweet by BJP quoted an article published on February 23, 1998, in which a magazine quoted Sonia Gandhi's father stating that he despised current leadership of Italy as they betrayed Mussolini.
In his tweet, Rahul termed the protests as “potent symbols” of Dalit resistance against the BJP’s “anti-dalit” policy.
