Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched scathing attack on Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi in his first Karnataka election speech and challenged him to speak 'Visvesvaraya' 5 times without fumbling.

Speaking at a rally in Chamarajanagar, PM Modi, who was being translated into Kannada by a translator, said Rahul Gandhi should face the public in the state.

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said that as soon as he heard about the incident he directed the DGCA to conduct a detailed inquiry and to find out the cause of the snag.

Taking a jibe at prime minister Narendra Modi, the Congress president said that the Congress manifesto was the “Mann ki Baat” of the people of Karnataka as it was not a document prepared by "three or four people in a closed room".

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other senior Congress leaders were also present in Mangaluru on this occasion.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s office on Thursday wrote a letter to Karnataka DGP hinting at sabotage after his plane developed a technical snag, and demanded an investigation into the matter.

Rahul Gandhi will be embarking on a two-day visit to Karnataka starting Thursday and he is scheduled to visit parts of Uttara Kannada like Ankola city, Mastikatte Circle (Kumta), Saraswati Circle (Honnavar) .
