The Congress President also said the country will surely get to know about how Modi helped his friend get Rs 30,000 crore of people's money.

The Congress president has been repeatedly accusing the Narendra Modi government of weakening public sector undertaking Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and destroying India’s strategic capability to benefit industrialist Anil Ambani.

The post has been vacant since Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken had submitted his resignation on January 4 over health issues.

Gandhi's attack came after a media report claimed that "not a single rupee of the said Rs 1 lakh crore has come to HAL, since not a single order, as claimed, has been signed till now".

Two days after Sitharaman made the claims in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Gandhi took to Twitter to question her claims, tagging a media report that said "no actual order has been placed".

This country needs to know that defence purchases are national security related and very important, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while speaking during debate on Rafale jet deal in Lok Sabha.

"The matter is sub-judice, I won't say anything on it," Congress president Rahul Gandhi said.

"In addition to corruption, the PM should be investigated for weakening national security by giving the Rafale contract to his friend and international debt master, Anil Ambani," Gandhi tweeted.

Lok Sabha elections 2019: In the 2014 election, though the Union textiles minister was trounced by Gandhi, she maintained her contact with the constituency, nurturing it and visiting it frequently.

While Rahul Gandhi, who defeated Irani in the 2014 general election, will be in Amethi on Friday and Saturday, the Union textiles minister will be participating in a series of events during her day-long trip on January 4.

By repeating his allegations, Rahul is trying hard so that at least one corruption charge against the Modi government could stick.

Rahul Gandhi's attack came a day after he said Modi faced an open book exam on the deal in Parliament and asked if he will show up at the exam or send a proxy.
