Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday lauded ISRO even as it lost contact with Vikram, the Chandrayaan-2 lander.   

Rahul said: "I request you to kindly take steps towards the reconstruction of the bridge at the earliest."

Attacking the Congress, Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that it should be "ashamed" that its leader Rahul Gandhi's statement was used by Pakistan in its petition to the UN on Kashmir.

The complaint relates to Gandhi's tweet on September 24, 2018, in the middle of a period which saw acrimonious exchanges between the BJP and the Congress over the Rafale fighter jet deal.

While interacting with locals at marooned St Claret Public School here on the third day of his visit to Wayanad, Gandhi said he had demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that compensation and relocation be done fast and quick. Gandhi said he had been assured that the needful would be done.

The Congress slammed Pakistan on Wednesday for "mischievously" dragging party leader Rahul Gandhi's name in a petition reportedly moved in the United Nations to justify its "lies and misinformation" on Jammu and Kashmir.

Uttar Pradesh minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also criticised the former Congress president over his earlier remarks and said his own state alone was enough to take on Pakistan. Referring to the debate in Parliament when the government decided to abrogate the special status for Jammu and Kashmir, Irani said the people were “stunned” by the remarks by some Congress members when Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about one tricolour and one Constitution for the entire country.

A video of the incident has been released, in which a man in blue shirt can be seen shaking hands with Rahul before hugging him and then planting a kiss on the former Congress President's cheek. The man was then pulled away by the security officials.

Javadekar said the shift in the Congress' position is not because of its change of mindset but due to political compulsions. He demanded an apology from both the Congress as well as Rahul Gandhi saying the party has insulted the country.

Gandhi was forced to give a clarification after Pakistan's Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari quoted him on "people dying" in Jammu and Kashmir.

In another attempt to internationalise the Kashmir issue, Pakistan on Tuesday wrote to the United Nations over the Kashmir issue. It claimed human rights violations in the region, a charge which has been rejected several times by India.

The video of the incident was shared on Twitter by Congress spokesperson Radhika Khera in which a Kashmiri woman is seen narrating how the lives of people had been affected after the abrogation of Article 370 and lockdown in the Valley.

The leaders were supposed to meet people and assess situation in the Kashmir Valley where restrictions are in place after the Centre withdrew special status to Jammu and Kashmir and split the state into two Union Territories earlier this month. According to sources, some of the parties that will be part of the opposition all-party delegation are Congress, CPI-M, CPI, RJD, NCP, TMC and DMK. The sources said top Congress leaders who will visit Srinagar are Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma. Rahul Gandhi is likely to accompany them.
