The Defence Minister's tough statement came even as fresh firing from Pakistan forces was reported in Nambh and Sher village areas of Nowshera sector earlier on Tuesday.

In a tweet, Sitharaman said that a misleading news item has appeared in a newspaper alleging kickbacks to Government of India officials through Global Marketing SP Ltd in contract for spares for AN-32 Aircraft.

Addressing a press conference on the issue, Sitharaman claimed that Chidambaram didn't disclose its investments to tax authority, violating Black Money Law, which was brought by Modi govt as part of its drive against black money and to prosecute those Indians who have secretly stashed illicit wealth abroad. 

A navy spokesperson said the Navy's focus over the past year had been on "combat efficiency and materiel readiness and upkeep of its large fleet of 131 ships and submarines".  

A day after a tourist from Chennai passed away after being injured in a stone-pelting incident in Srinagar, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has condemned the incident. She further said that such incidents are not conducive to the growth of tourism in the Valley.

In August last year, India and China decided to end their 73-day standoff between their troops in Doklam. The standoff had strained ties considerably between the two countries.
