Modi also won the Vadodara seat in 2014 but decided to retain Varanasi. He was the Gujarat Chief Minister from 2001 to 2014. Modi represented Rajkot II constituency in the Gujarat Assembly in 2002 and Maninagar thrice in a row in 2002, 2007 and 2012. He is again contesting from the Varanasi constituency in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
