Mohan Madhukar Bhagwat is the chief (Sarsanghchalak) of the nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and was chosen, in March 2009, as the successor to K. S. Sudarshan. After K. B. Hedgewar and M.S.Golwalkar, he is one of the youngest leaders to head the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Due to a high threat perception from various Islamic terrorist organisations, in June 2015, Centre ordered the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to provide Bhagwat with round-the-clock protection. He is the eldest son of his parents. From Government Veterinary College, Nagpur, he graduated in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry. Towards the end of 1975, he dropped out of his postgraduate course in Veterinary Sciences and became a pracharak (full-time promoter/worker) of the RSS.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that violence does not benefit anybody. The society to which violence is dear is now counting its last days.
The RSS chief said that the speed with which the country was moving on the path of upliftment, it will take 20-25 years to become Akhand Bharat. He further said that the time would be half if upliftment picks up pace.
Mohan Bhagwat said that work is on to create a conducive atmosphere so that Kashmiri Pandits are never displaced again.

"Remember priority should be 'Hindu interest', that is, national interest. Other interests such as language, caste are secondary," Bhagwat said at the millennium birth anniversary celebrations of Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad.
Bhagwat said the ethos that represents our Constitution was Hindutva, which was the same as national integration. He said the concept of national integration didn't need uniformity because "to be different is not being separate".
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and veteran Samajwadi Party leader, former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav were seen sitting together at the wedding function of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu's granddaughter.
Rahul Gandhi's comments have come after Mohan Bhagwat during an event said that for over 40,000 years, DNA of all people in India has been the same adding he was not faffing.
Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Hindutva leader Sadhvi Rithambara were among the seers from across the country who attended the gathering. Speaking about India's partition, Bhagwat said, "After partition, India broke off and Pakistan was formed. It happened because we forgot the idea that we are Hindus. The Muslims there also forgot this."
Bhagwat also advocated for the 'Akhand Bharat' (united India). He termed the partition is an unforgettable event and asserted that the pain of division will only end when the partition would be revoked.
Bhagwat also said that, even after 75 years, India hasn't made the progress it could have. "We did not walk the path that could've taken us towards progress. If we walk it, we will surely reach there", he said.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that terrorists are resorting to targeted violence in Jammu and Kashmir to instil fear and that the military preparedness on borders needs to be alert.
Dussehra holds a special importance for sarsanghchalaks as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was founded on this day in 1925.
The RSS chief was speaking at the book launch — ‘Veer Savarkar: The Man Who Could Have Prevented Partition.
The RSS chief spoke about preserving traditional family values and traditions. He also urged people to visit Indian tourist sites, consume home-grown food and wear traditional outfits.
It has a firm belief in sustainable development and eco-friendly lifestyle and the European countries have coined these terms in recent times, Bhagwat said.
Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Jammu on Thursday on 4-day visit to the union territory during which he'll meet intellectuals and prominent citizens.
This is Mohan Bhagwat's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019, when the erstwhile state's special status was ended and it was bifurcated into UTs -- J-K and Ladakh.
