Kumari Mayawati, also known as Mayawati, is a renowned Indian politician who has been serving the nation in this field for over a decade. 65-year-old, Mayawati is the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Mayawati is considered as an icon among the Dalits and is popularly hailed as “Behenji” or sister. Mayawati has been an important member of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) since its inception in 1984 and is now serving as the president of the party. She created history by becoming the first-ever female Scheduled Caste member to become the Chief Minister of an Indian state. Mayawati has served four separate terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1995, 1997, 2002-2003, and 2007-2012 . Mayawati's rise from humble beginnings has been called a "miracle of democracy" by former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. Mayawati was born on January 15, 1956 in Delhi. Her father Prabhu Das was a postal employee at Badalpur in Gautam Buddha Nagar. Her mother's name was Ram Rati. In 1975, Mayawati completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Kalindi Women’s College, in Delhi. She earned a B.Ed. from VMLG College, Ghaziabad in 1976. Thereafter, Mayawati did her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Delhi University in 1983. The Bahujan Samaj Party will fight the 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh alone. Mayawati had stated that BSP will win the election with absolute majority just like they did in the 2007 assembly polls. In Punjab, the BSP will be contesting the polls with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) i.e., former ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a potshot at Rahul Gandhi she said "We are not a party where a leader like Rahul Gandhi forcefully hugs the PM in Parliament, we aren't a party whose fun is made across the world."
Mayawati said that BJP and SP created an atmosphere of fear by making the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh a Hindu-Muslim affair.
Mayawati said that the Congress government had completely failed in Rajasthan, particularly in protecting Dalits and Adivasis.
Mayawati attacked Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav for changing the names of institutions named after B R Ambedkar during his tenure.
An official stated that the accused, identified as Aamir Khan was arrested by the staff of Jewar police station. Khan is a resident of Dyanatpur village in Gautam Budh Nagar.
Mayawati claimed the media adopted a "casteist, hateful and despicable approach" to "harm" the Ambedkarite BSP movement during the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on the instructions of "their bosses".
Plummeting to its lowest ever tally of winning only one seat in the current Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Mayawati said it was the media’s aggressive propaganda showing the BSP as the "B team of the BJP" that drove away Muslims and anti-BJP voters from it.
The BSP, that contested on 403 seats of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, won Rasara seat. BSP candidate Umashankar Singh defeated Mahendra of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party by a margin of over 6,500 votes.
"UP election results are opposed to BSP's expectations. We should not be discouraged by it. Instead, we should learn from it, introspect and carry forward our party movement, and come back to power," Mayawati said.
But the Bahujan Samaj Party leader has been out of power in UP for a decade, and a better showing in the just-ended assembly elections would have come in handy. Instead, the BSP was leading on just a single seat on Thursday evening.
Assembly election in Sultanpur was held in the fifth phase on February 27. According to previous election results, BJP may have an edge over SP as the saffron party has won this seat 4 times while Samajwadi Party won it 3 times.
Bharthana Election Result: SP's Raghvendra Kumar Singh has won this seat against BJP's Siddharth Shanker. Election here was held in the third phase on February 20.
Mayawati's statement came after ED on Feb 23 arrested NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in connection with links with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and a money laundering case.
This election, Mayawati could be seen keeping herself away from the active campaigning. She addressed the first rally on February 2 in Agra, just a week before the polling in the first phase.
