DOB: January 13, 1987

Kanhaiya Kumar is Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate from Begusarai in Bihar. He is a former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union. He received his doctorate from JNU in 2019. Kanhaiya Kumar was born in Bihat village in Bihar. The village is in Begusarai District. He graduated in Geography from College of Commerce in Patna. He topped entrance examination of Jawaharlal Nehru University and pursued his Ph.D. in African Studies. In 2016, Kanhaiya Kumar got embroiled in a controversy after which he was arrested in connection with a program against hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. He was also accused of being involved in 'anti-India' sloganeering. Kanhaiya Kumar has denied the charges. Information in the pubic domain includes Kanhaiya Kumar's statements in which he says that he always says that "Kashmir is an integral part of India". In Begusarai, Kanhaiya Kumar is facing-off with BJP MP Giriraj Singh in Lok Sabha Election 2019.
